A collection inspired by imagined stories of people who may have lived in spaces captured by Reginald Van de Velde, who photographs the beauty of bygone places. The traces of memory held in these places led me to explore the culture in South America, the passion, sensuality and movements in tango became important elements of my design process. As a reference to my own heritage, my collection further explores the way Brazilians use fashion as a tool to express themselves. Through the use of drape and material manipulation, the silhouettes were created to embody the spirit of tango, as well as incorporating handmade lace sourced from the Northeast of Brazil, it was fundamental to highlight the work of women who have been learning this technique which is passed down through generations.
